SpecialitiesChemical technology of inorganic substances, technical electrochemistry, chemical technology of refractory non-metallic and silicate materials, chemical technology of rare scattered elements and metals on their basis.
Fields of StudyResearch, design and production of hydrogen, oxygen, noble metals, gases, ammonia, mineral acids, nitrogenous, phosphorus and combined fertilisers, chemical pest control, chemical process catalysts including those from precious metals; industrial ecology, development of waste-free and resource saving technologies, purification of sewage water and gases; electrochemical synthesis and production of non-ferrous metals using electrolysis, production of galvanic elements, storage cells for vehicles and mobile communication as well as electronic elements (printed circuit boards, microcircuits, etc.), protection of metals from corrosion, functional electrochemical coatings, structural and functional glass-ceramic materials for the aerospace industry, power engineering, electronics, metallurgy, construction industry, biotechnology and medicine, art and jewellery items, optic glass and glass fibre, enamels and protective coatings, fibre materials for various purposes, fire –proof and radiation resistant binders.
Basic SubjectsA series of lectures in the humanities and socio-economic disciplines (history of Ukraine, philosophy, psychology, science of law, profession –oriented foreign language sociology, basics of economic theory, etc); natural -&-scientific disciplines (higher mathematics, informatics, general physics, general and inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, ecology etc.); profession –oriented and practical disciplines ( processes and equipment for chemical production, general chemical technology, energo-technology of chemical processes, analytical chemistry, instrumental methods of analysis, chemical-&-technological processes control and management; economics and industry management, life safety, labour protection, etc.)
Special subjectsThese subjects are determined by the field of specialization chosen by a student. The specialty –related subjects include theoretical basics (theoretical basics of technology of inorganic substances, theoretical electrochemistry, physical chemistry of high-melting non-metallic and silicate materials, theoretical basics of rare scattered elements, etc.), advanced material science, contemporary processes and technologies, methods of research, equipment and devices, environmental protection and use of anthropogenic raw materials.
The updated curricula include contemporary specialty-related disciplines that allow for the solution of problems related to resources and energy saving, information technologies and computer modelling, nanotechnologies, nanostructured materials (including the commercial and biomedical ones), etc.
The masters are given the advanced socio-economic and psychological-&-pedagogical training, in-depth study of the foreign specialty –related languages and fundamental specialty-related disciplines.
Practical work.Practical training is provided at the stages of production and pre-diploma practice and research (for Master’s degree), practical and research work for the Bachelor’s degree and diploma projects. This practical work is done at the Ukrainian leading companies such as the Severodonetsk, Cherkasy, and Sumy chemical works, NK “ISTA” and the Kharkiv storage cells works, at the Izium Instrument-making plant, scientific-&-production concern “FED”, production enterprise “Kommunar”, JSC “Khartron”, close JSC ““Kharkiv tile works” ,open JSC “UkrNDIV”, research and industrial center “Alvigo-KC”, state-owned research-&-design institute for basic chemistry (NIOCHIM). Annually the best graduates remain at the department holding positions of engineers and scientists or take post-graduate course and work at the research and factory laboratories or ecological departments.
