The delegation from the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST): presentation of the Master’s and Postgraduate programs

On the 8th of October 2015 delegation from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), Seoul, South Korea visited NTU “KhPI” with the presentation of master’s and postgraduate programs.

Mrs. Kyoung Hwa Lee, Team leader, Academic Affairs Team of KIST and Ms. Hanla Park, Officer, International R&D Academy of KIST, represented the Korean delegation. The Rector of NTU “KhPI” Yevgen Sokol greeted honorary guests.

“Our university has good scientific relations with the Korean Republic. Particularly close collaboration is developing on the field of turbine construction. I am sure that the best students and graduates of NTU “KhPI”, who will participate in the new program, would be conductors for further effective collaboration between NTU “KhPI” and KIST”, stressed Yevgen Sokol.

Mrs. Kyoung Hwa Lee thanked the management of the NTU “KhPI” for the invitation and opportunity to visit the university. She expressed the hope that through joint Master’s and Postgraduate programs more Ukrainian students will be able to realize their potential in the research activities.

In August 2015 NTU “KhPI” signed an agreement on double degree programs with KIST, which is one of the most powerful research institutes in Korea. Korean Institute of Science and Technology is preparing Masters and Postgraduate students in the following areas: biochemistry, biomedical engineering, alternative energy, nanomaterials, robotics, electronics, chemical engineering, neurosciences and other.

As a part of the program, students NTU “KhPI” will be able to get fundamental knowledge, take part in research projects, and gain practical experience in their field. Every year, KIST has the opportunity to take some of our students (masters) and graduate students.

Studying process will be in English. Therefore, the level of language proficiency for candidates to participate in the program must meet the level of TOEFL CBT score of 213 or higher, or other similar exams, such as IELTS (more than 6) or TOEIC (more than 730). The obligatory requirement for participation in the program is good and excellent performance at NTU “KhPI” (average score of more than 4.0).

Education in KIST lasts at least one year to obtain a master’s degree or two years for the defense of a thesis for PhD programs.

KIST provides students with all necessary conditions for learning, as well as housing and a monthly scholarship of $900 for undergraduate students, $1100 — for masters and $1,500 — for postgraduate students. Travel costs to/from Korea and monthly payment of $120 for dormitory are students’ expenses. Scholarship allows you to cover all costs in Korea.

In addition, participants of the program can use all the resources of the Institute campus: cafe, fitness center, library, bank etc.
