Students of NTU «KhPI» – participants of ML WEEK 2025

Kharkiv Polytechnics took part in an intensive educational and practical platform – Winter School ML WEEK 2025. During the week, future IT specialists developed innovative projects in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and Data Science, gained team practical experience, and exchanged ideas in workshops. The event was aimed at forming a community of AI leaders who will create innovations in Ukraine. This large-scale project brought together four leading higher technical education institutions: NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute», Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Odesa Polytechnic National University.

Students of three departments of NTU «KhPI»: Computer Mathematics and Data Analysis; Cybersecurity; System Analysis and Information Analytical Technologies of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology of NTU «KhPI» became participants of the exciting competitions at the ML WEEK 2025 Winter School. This is an intensive educational and practical platform that brings together the best young talents from leading Ukrainian universities to solve real-world problems using machine learning. The organizers of this large-scale project are the leading higher education institutions of Ukraine: National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute», Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Odesa Polytechnic National University.

In the tournament, students from these universities organized into teams to create joint projects. In each team, only one student represented his or her university. This approach ensured a diversity of opinions and facilitated the exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as new acquaintances. The participants of the competition worked on real tasks in the fields of Computer Vision and Data Science, and their work was guided by experienced mentors from well-known IT companies. They shared their experience and helped the teams find effective solutions. The projects at the tournament were dedicated to smart search; voice assistant; grade prediction, etc.

Thus, the teams worked late into the night setting up models, discussing results, and communicating with their mentors. Students improved their algorithms and learned how to distribute tasks in a team. Despite the difficult challenges, each participant gained new knowledge and practical experience in working with real data. The competition was a great opportunity for future IT professionals to present their projects and add them to their portfolios.

According to the tournament organizers, ML WEEK 2025 was aimed at forming a community of artificial intelligence leaders who will create innovations in Ukraine. This event combined knowledge, practice, and development of new talents in machine learning.

Participation in the Winter School resulted in successful prototypes that are ready for further implementation; knowledge in AI, data processing, and work with innovative tools; dozens of new acquaintances and contacts that may become the start of joint projects in the future. ML WEEK 2025 has become not only a platform for student innovations, but also a platform for professional dialog and exchange of experience between representatives of four leading universities of the country.
