The International Relations Department that was set up in 1980 is a structural subdivision of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute”.
The department carries out its activities in compliance with the current legislation of Ukraine, in particular the Laws of Ukraine “On Education”, “On Higher Education”, the Resolutions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Charter of NTU “KhPI”, orders and instructions issued by the Rector of NTU “KhPI”, and the decisions taken by the Academic Council of the University.
The activities of the department are aimed at the development, expansion and strengthening of international relations and the authority of NTU “KhPI” in the world community, further integration of the university into the scientific and educational international community, access to international markets to provide scientific and educational services increasing thus the competitiveness of the university on the world stage.
The priority task of the Department is to implement the university’s strategy of international activities.
Main activities of the International Relations Department:
- Coordinating international activities of the departments and other units of the university;
- Developing and implementing international projects;
- Cooperating with the institutions of higher education and scientific organizations of foreign countries;
- Promoting the programs for the international exchange of teachers, scientists, graduate students and students;
- Providing business trips for teachers, employees, doctoral students, graduate students and students abroad;
- Fostering gradual increase in the number of students of NTU “KhPI” willing to participate in academic mobility programs;
- Providing information and consulting services and rendering customs services,
- Drawing up travelling documents;
- Organizing language courses and summer practices for students abroad;
- Receiving foreign experts at the university;
- Concluding contracts with foreign partners and working on contractual basis;
- Fulfilling other tasks related to international activities.
The department has a fundraising group that provides assistance in the arrangement of educational and scientific projects and it is also in charge of search for partners. The most important task of the group is to coordinate, plan and implement joint national and international projects, maintaining the information and consultation field at NTU “KhPI” through the dissemination of information on the possibilities of participation in international educational and training programs.
The history of the creation of the fundraising group begins with the establishment of the Coordination Center of the “EU-Ukraine” Consortium (TEMPUS project “Establishment of the Consortium of Technical Universities “EU-Ukraine” and the continuously operating Coordination Center of the Consortium”) under the auspices of the International Relations Department at the initiative of the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg (Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg, TUHH). On completion of the project, due to its successful activities, the Consortium Coordination Center was officially recognized by the university administration and became a structural unit of the International Relations Department of NTU “KhPI”. In 2008, the Center was renamed into a fundraising group.
Due to its active international cooperation, NTU “KhPI” was repeatedly recognized as one of the best universities both in the region and in Ukraine.
