Innovations for longevity: NTU «KhPI’s» experience presented in Poland

Teachers from the Educational and Scientific Institute of Economics, Management, and International Business at NTU «KhPI» presented their research at the WAICHL- Wrocław Annual International Conference on Health and Lifestyle (Poland) 2025. More than 100 experts from government agencies in European countries came together for an interdisciplinary discussion on the topic of «Innovations in the Silver Economy». The event analyzed the challenges associated with population aging, the digitization of healthcare, social innovations, and strategies for active longevity. 

Wroclaw Annual Conference on Health and Lifestyle–WAICHL 2025) was held at the University of Wroclaw. Representatives of NTU «KhPI» became active participants in the event, giving reports on the intersection of finance, management, and digital technologies. Professor Oleksandr Manoilenko, head of the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Economics, Management, and International Business at NTU «KhPI» and Associate Professor Svitlana Kuznetsova from the same department talked about an innovative vision for implementing financial technologies in the digital transformation of healthcare. For her part, Alina Shum, professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance at Kharkiv Polytechnic University, focused on strategic management of internal control in the context of an aging population. And Oksana Makovoz, professor at the Department of Management, focused her presentation on the development of digital and language skills among Ukrainian senior migrants.

According to scientists from Kharkiv Polytechnic University, the conference became not only a platform for presenting scientific ideas, but also a place for international dialogue on the possibilities of digitalization and inclusiveness in the European space.

Wroclaw Annual International Conference on Health and Lifestyle (WAICHL-2025) – the ninth WAICHL conference and the eleventh conference on health and quality of life, organized by the Institute of Economic Sciences of the University of Wroclaw and its partners. It took place on 22-23 May, 2025. WAICHL conferences have been organized since 2017. Over the eight years of its existence, the event has activated and united the scientific communities of Poland, Germany, Latvia, Croatia, Lithuania, Vietnam, and now Ukraine to promote a healthy lifestyle under appropriate economic, political, and social conditions. NTU «KhPI» has been a partner of the WAICHL conference since 2023, and the head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Professor Oleksandr Manoilenko, is invited annually to the organizing and program committees. 

Silver Economy is a sector of the economy that aims to meet the needs of older people (usually aged 50+) and engage them in active economic activity. It encompasses all activities related to meeting the needs of the aging population, including medical, financial, and social services, as well as the development of products and technologies tailored to the needs of older people.
