Note:
Science Day in Ukraine is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May. It is an official holiday established by a decree of the President of Ukraine in 1997. Its purpose is to honor the contribution of scientists to the development of the state and the strengthening of its intellectual potential. Ukrainian researchers work in the fields of IT, energy, medicine, biology, and social sciences and humanities. Many of them are part of international teams or work in leading laboratories in Europe and the United States. Their names appear in the pages of authoritative scientific journals. Since 2022, after russia’s full-scale invasion, domestic science has adapted to new realities. Many scientists have joined in the development of defense solutions, cyber security measures, and innovations in the field of medical care for those wounded on the front lines. Science Day is an opportunity to remember that great discoveries are not always made in the quiet of laboratories. Often they are born in conditions of struggle, challenges, and limited resources. This is the reality in Ukraine — and it is in these conditions that our scientists continue to inspire.
