NTU «KhPI» among the leaders of the international IT Olympiad «IT-Universe-2025»

NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» entered the «TOP-3» strongest university teams in Ukraine according to the results of the International Student Olympiad in the field of information technology «IT-Universe-2025». Nine representatives from various departments of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute took part in the final of the tournament, winning gold, silver, and two bronze medals. They are Andriy Kalashnikov, Maksym Kopychko, Serhiy Ivashchuk, Bohdan Yakilevsky, Igor Kustov, Vadym Kustov, Angelina Danilova, Mykhailo Breslavets, and Maksym Kolisnychenko. In total, more than 350 students from over 30 higher education institutions participated in the IT Olympiad.

The first place in the Marketing competition of the International Student Olympiad «IT-Universe-2025» in Information Technology was won by a team of students from the Department of Computer Engineering and Programming (CEP) of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology at NTU «KhPI». The winners became Andriy Kalashnikov (captain), Maksym Kopychko, Serhiy Ivashchuk, and Bohdan Yakilevsky. The scientific supervisor was Serhiy Mezerytskyi, senior lecturer at the CEP Department.

The silver medalist of «IT-Universe-2025» became a team of students from the Department of Computer Modeling of Processes and Systems (CMPS) of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Modeling, Applied Physics and Mathematics of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» in the «Mobile Application Development» tournament. Igor Kustov (captain) and Vadim Kustov received diplomas for second place in the international competition. The scientific supervisor was Mariia Nekrasova, associate professor at the CMPS Department.

In the competition «IT Project Management», third place went to Angelina Danilova, a student at the Department of Project Management in Information Technology (PMIT) at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies at NTU «KhPI». Her research supervisor is Professor Marina Grinchenko, head of the department. In addition, Bogdan Yakilevsky, a student of the Department of Computer Engineering and Programming, took third place in the competition «Mobile Application Development». His scientific supervisor is senior lecturer Serhiy Mezerytskyi.

According to the results of the IT-Universe-2025 Olympiad, the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» won third place among higher education institutions participating in the competition. Serhiy Mezerytskyi, senior lecturer at the Department of Computer Engineering and Programming, was the mentor and official representative of the NTU «KhPI» students.

We should note that throughout its participation in the International Student Olympiad in Information Technology «IT-Universe» since 2014, Kharkiv Polytechnic has consistently been the winner and prize-winner of this tournament in the team competition, and the Department of Computer Engineering and Programming has been the leader in terms of the number of developments presented and prize places in the finals of the competition.

XIV season of the International Student Olympiad in Information Technology «IT-Universe 2025» started on 1 March, 2025. Over two months, more than 350 students from over 30 educational institutions competed for the right to meet in the final, which took place remotely from 6 to 20 June. More than 160 students from 25 higher education institutions were invited to participate in the 13 final competitions. The IT-Universe–2025 finals were held in the format of video conferences and online competitions. On 20 June, 2025, the results of IT-Universe–2025 were summarized and announced, which are published on the official website of the Olympiad. Participants from NTU «KhPI» were representatives of the Department of Computer Engineering and Programming, the Department of Computer Modeling of Processes and Systems, and the Department of Project Management in Information Technology. The competition program of the Olympiad included four areas of competition: engineering, innovation, management, and design. The tournament was organized by the All-Ukrainian public organization «Community of Information Technology Directors of Ukraine». The final was held with the support of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Vinnytsia National Technical University, and Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. The competition program of the Olympiad included four areas of competition: engineering, innovation, management, and design.

«IT-Universe» began operating independently in 2014, parallel to the IT-Planet International Student Olympiad in Information Technology, with which it had collaborated from 2010 to 2013. Today, the participants of the IT-Universe Olympiad are mainly students from Ukrainian universities. It is a social non-profit project aimed at creating an ecosystem for students, universities, and IT companies. «IT-Universe–2025» was held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
