NTU «KhPI» among ICIE’2025 leaders: two scientific papers win «bronze»

The National Technical University «KhPI» became one of the co-organizers of the International Scientific Conference on Innovations in Engineering ICIE’2025. The scientific sections of the forum, dedicated to new engineering materials, digital modeling, tribology, and solutions in the field of sustainable mechanical engineering, were moderated by Associate Professors Yevheniia Basova and Maryna Ivanova of NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute». Two joint scientific works by scientists from NTU «KhPI» and their foreign colleagues received bronze awards in the forum’s nominations. The conference, which took place at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (CZU Prague), brought together over 100 researchers and university representatives from 25 countries around the world.

NTU «KhPI» co-organized the International Conference on Innovations in Engineering ICIE’2025 (International Conference on Innovations in Engineering). The event was held under the auspices of the University of Minho (Portugal) in collaboration with partner universities from the EU and Asia. The forum took place at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (CZU Prague). More than 115 researchers and university representatives from 25 countries participated in the conference. A total of 175 scientific papers were submitted to the forum. After a rigorous three-stage review process, 130 articles were accepted for publication in three volumes by the prestigious international publisher Springer (series «Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering»), which is indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.

The participation of scientists from NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» in the conference was highly appreciated by its organizers. In an official letter of gratitude addressed to the rector of NTU «KhPI» Professor Yevgen Sokol, sent by the forum chair Professor José Mendes Machado (University of Minho, Portugal), sincere gratitude was expressed to the university staff for their significant contribution to the preparation, expert participation, and organizational support of ICIE’2025. In particular, the active participation of the vice rector for scientific work of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute,» Professor Andriy Marchenko, Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Metal-Cutting Machine Tools of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute,» Serhiy Dobrotvorsky, and Associate Professor Yevheniia Basova was noted. Thanks to the professionalism, scientific expertise, and academic responsibility of the scientists at Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, the conference was held at a high level. It was also noted that NTU «KhPI» demonstrates not only high-quality scientific research but also a consistent strategy of international cooperation in the field of engineering sciences.

As part of preparations for the ICIE’2025 forum, scientists from the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute initiated a specialized thematic section SS7 – «Sustainable Development: Digitalization and 3D Information in Manufacturing Systems» (https://icieng.eu/special-sessions/#1637176403914-e8c75682-1df5). It was focused on attracting publications in key areas of digital transformation, sustainable development, digital twins, 3D information, AR/VR technologies, the Internet of Things, etc. The section became one of the leading platforms for shaping ICIE’2025 content in the area of Industry 4.0/5.0. It should be noted that the scientific sections of the forum were moderated by Yevheniia Basova and Maryna Ivanova, associate professors at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Metal-Cutting Machine Tools at NTU «KhPI.» The section «Mechanical Engineering and Sustainable Development» featured eight reports on new engineering materials, digital modeling, tribology, and solutions in the field of sustainable mechanical engineering. Seventeen scientific papers by young scientists, graduate students, and students from various countries in Europe and Asia were presented at the «Poster Session 2».

In total, scientists from NTU «KhPI» were submitted 18 scientific articles, 13 of which were accepted for publication by Springer (LNME). Most of them are the results of the work of international scientific teams, which included teachers from Kharkiv Polytechnic and researchers from Germany, Portugal, Poland, and Romania. Two scientific papers prepared with the participation of scientists from NTU «KhPI» received bronze awards in two of the three main nominations of the conference. These are the scientific papers «The combined effect of laser-textured surfaces and lubricant additives on improving the tribological characteristics of titanium alloys» (authors: P. Zawadzki, S. Dobrotvorskiy, Y. Basova, D. Trubin, R. Talar) Springer: https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-031-93554-1_33  and «Prospects for the use of hydrocarbon waste as raw material for the production of plastic lubricants» (authors: A. Grigorov, A. Tulska, S. Slipchenko, G. Santos, M. Brillinger) Springer: https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-031-94484-0_11.

The participation of NTU «KhPI» scientists in the ICIE’2025 conference became a striking example of effective international cooperation and presentation of the Kharkiv engineering school at the European level. This is confirmed by the invitation to participate in the next conference in 2026, which will be held in Bucharest (Romania), and the continuation of joint scientific projects and publications with EU partners.
