With the aim of strengthening academic and cultural ties between Ukraine and the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Issam Shahin, Assistant Rector of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» (NTU «KhPI») for Foreign Students in the Middle East and North Africa, visited the Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt, where he met with Mykola Nahorny, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Egypt. The meeting took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere. The focus was on issues of cooperation in the field of education that are of interest to NTU «KhPI».
Among the main topics discussed were:
- Establishing the cooperation between NTU «KhPI» and leading Egyptian universities in the public and private sectors.
- Creating a community of graduates of NTU «KhPI» and other Ukrainian universities in Egypt to regularly share news in the field of education and culture.
- Deepening cooperation with the families of Egyptian students currently studying at NTU «KhPI».
- Organizing exchange visits by professors and scientists, primarily from NTU «KhPI» to Egypt, to conduct scientific and cultural events.
- Encouraging graduates of NTU «KhPI» and other Ukrainian higher education institutions in Egypt to continue their studies in postgraduate programs.
These proposals were supported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Egypt, who confirmed the readiness of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission to fully assist NTU «KhPI» in developing cooperation with Egypt and promoting opportunities for Egyptian citizens to obtain quality higher education in Ukraine.
The National Technical University «KhPI» expresses its hope that this visit to Cairo will be an important step in the development of academic, educational, and cultural cooperation between Ukraine and Egypt.
Note:
There are 1.106 foreign students from 24 countries studying at NTU «KhPI». Among the EU countries are France, Germany, and Lithuania. The «Big Twenty» are represented by Japan, India, Israel, and Canada. There are also students from Ecuador, Lebanon, Jordan, Mongolia, and Cameroon. In 2023–2024, students from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, and Sudan received diplomas from NTU «KhPI». While students from post-Soviet countries—Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, and Moldova—used to be in the majority, now there are more and more representatives from China, Turkey, Egypt, and Morocco.
