The National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» and its rector, Professor Yevgen Sokol, have confirmed their status as one of the strongest universities in Ukraine and the world. According to the results of the prestigious international ranking of the best rectors and universities, World Rating of the Best Chancellors and Universities 2025, NTU «KhPI» ranked 627th in the world, ahead of such strong universities as Sumy State University, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, and others. Rector Yevgen Sokol received an rating «A» (strong), which indicates the university’s high management efficiency, scientific performance, and strong international cooperation.
In the ranking of the International Agency of State, Corporate and Private Rating (IHBI), the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» and its rector Yevgen Sokol took 627th place among universities worldwide. Among the 37 Ukrainian institutions included in the ranking, KPI is tenth, ahead of a number of leading universities, including Sumy State University, Karazin Kharkiv National University, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, and others.
In category «A» (strong), NTU «KhPI» Rector Yevgen Sokol showed one of the best management results among Ukrainian universities in his group and took 10th place among representatives of Ukraine in the world ranking. These data testify to the high level of strategic management, scientific efficiency, and international cooperation of the university, which ensures that NTU «KhPI» consistently ranks among the world’s leading universities.
The participation of NTU «KhPI» in the prestigious World Rating of the Best Chancellors and Universities confirms the university’s significant contribution to the development of global science, education, and innovation. In total, this list for 2025 features 1,000 of the world’s best universities and rectors. Ukraine traditionally ranks among the top 50 countries with the highest level of quality and effectiveness of management in higher education. This year, the country improved its performance, climbing to 30th place in the world ranking.

World Rating of the Best Chancellors and Universities is an annual international study conducted by the International Agency of State, Corporate and Private Rating (IHBI), which evaluates the performance of world leaders and universities based on a set of scientific, managerial, and social criteria.
The following data was taken into account when compiling the rating:
- level of professional development of employees (participation in international FP&NL training programs, whose speakers include well-known professionals and Nobel Prize winners);
- achievements (winners of Nobel, Pulitzer, Pritzker, Booker, and other international or national awards in various fields; winners of world and international scientific championships, Olympiads among employees and students of higher education institutions, etc.); winners of international and national awards in various fields, recipients of prestigious and national scholarships);
- international cooperation (participation of employees and students in international cooperation programs, consortia, educational and scientific projects);
- scientific activity (publication of articles in international scientific platforms, leading journals included in scientometric databases; publication of scientific monographs, obtaining international or national scientific grants);
- the influence of universities (on the development of the world, the countries in which they are located, the environment; active struggle for peace, respect for human and minority rights, combating discrimination based on gender, age, and race; prevention of climate change, support for advanced scientific, cultural, and social ideas, participation in global scientific and socially significant projects (the university’s contribution to the development of the country’s economy);
- the presence of outstanding alumni who are changing the country and the world for the better (scientists, writers, engineers, politicians, civil servants, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, athletes, workers and activists in the fields of culture, education, economics and business, musicians, actors, bloggers, models, military personnel, architects, artists, fighters for democracy and human rights who are known in the country and around the world).
