NTU «KhPI» ranks in the TOP-3 in Ukraine according to the results of scientific selection by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine

NTU «KhPI» was among the leading universities in Ukraine among the winners of the competition of scientific projects of higher education institutions in 2025, held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Kharkiv Polytechnic demonstrated high results in the main selection of fundamental and applied research, among the works of young scientists, as well as within the program for frontline higher education institutions. In total, 23 projects of the National Technical University «KhPI» will receive state support, which are recommended for funding from January 2026. 75 universities of Ukraine took part in the competition, and 258 research initiatives were approved.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has approved the lists of winners of university research competitions: for young scientists, basic and frontline areas based on the results of 2025. The selection of projects was carried out with the participation of independent experts using the National Electronic Scientific Information System, which ensured the transparency of the procedure. The National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» demonstrated high competitiveness among the country’s universities for state support of science. Based on the results of the selection in the main scientific research competition, NTU «KhPI» was among the leaders, taking third place among higher education institutions in Ukraine, with 11 scientific projects receiving support. As for the competition for young scientists, NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» entered the top group, receiving funding for six scientific initiatives and third place overall. Within the framework of the frontline program, NTU «KhPI» also took third place among higher education institutions in Ukraine, with six scientific projects approved. It should be noted that the Kharkiv region became the undisputed leader in this competition, which testifies to the scientific power of the region.

We would like to remind you that, according to the results of the state certification by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» received the highest category «A» in 2025, taking first place among higher education institutions in Ukraine in the field of engineering and technology.

Note:

A total of 75 higher education and scientific institutions took part in the general selection process organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, submitting 357 projects that received state support. In particular, 258 initiatives were approved in the main competition, including 78 in the frontline area, as well as 99 initiatives in competitions for young scientists. The selected works are recommended for funding from January 2026 in accordance with the updated Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Key innovations in the Ministry of Education and Science’s research project competitions under the new Regulations: +40% increase in total funding for competitions in the 2026 budget; an additional UAH 100 million to support projects at frontline and border higher education institutions/national universities; the maximum project cost has been increased to UAH 4.5 million; for the first time – 100% funding for winners at the request of the research team; for the first time – funding starts in January to preserve and develop human resources; maximum adaptation of competition forms to the EU’s Horizon Europe Framework Program; each project was evaluated by three independent experts with automatic conflict of interest checks; clear requirements for academic integrity and the use of AI; the practice of formal use of scientometric indicators has been abolished, with a focus on project quality and results.
