NTU «KhPI» presented a demonstration STEM zone at the «Opportunities Fair»

NTU «KhPI» joined the «Opportunities Fair» organized by the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration. The purpose of the event was to support veterans, internally displaced persons, and graduates of secondary education institutions. Kharkiv Polytechnic presented its own demonstration STEM zone, where visitors could see scientific experiments in physics and electronics, as well as applied technologies. Particular attention was paid to practical interaction and the promotion of technical education among young people. Ruslan Mygushchenko, Vice-Rector of NTU «KhPI», addressed the participants who joined the event online.

«Opportunities Fair» brought together representatives of higher and vocational education institutions in the Kharkiv region, the region’s largest enterprises, the employment center, and career guidance services.  Participants received information about the admission campaign, current professions, and opportunities for further employment. In addition, programs to support veterans were presented, including compensation for the cost of education within the Comprehensive Program to Support Defenders. Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, addressed the audience, noting that higher education institutions in Kharkiv region provide knowledge and skills for working at the best enterprises in the region and in the most sought-after specialties.

During the event, the National Technical University «KhPI» presented its own demonstration STEM zone. Visitors had the opportunity to see scientific experiments in physics and electronics, learn about applied technologies, and personally communicate with students and teachers of the university. Particular attention was paid to practical interaction and the promotion of technical education among young people. Ruslan Mygushchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work at NTU «KhPI,» addressed schoolchildren who joined the event online in a video format. He emphasized the importance of continuous education, the role of the university in supporting the youth of Kharkiv region, and assured them of the openness of the educational environment, even in conditions of limited access.

The event confirmed the importance of close cooperation between education, business, and government policy. Representatives of Kharkiv Polytechnic noted that the «Opportunities Fair» has become an example of an effective approach to career guidance and social support, opening up real paths to education, retraining, and employment for students, veterans, and internally displaced persons. The participation of NTU «KhPI» in this format once again demonstrated the university’s readiness to be an active participant in the development of human capital and the restoration of the region through quality education and practical training of specialists.

The «Opportunities Fair» took place on 28 May, 2025. Currently, there are about 4,000 vacancies available in the Kharkiv region. Among the most sought-after are doctors, engineers, pharmacists, technologists, lawyers, accountants, etc.

The abbreviation STEM stands for «Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics». These fields form the basis of the STEM education methodology. At the same time, these disciplines are not studied separately, as is usually the case, but in combination. The practical application of the knowledge gained is of great importance. Children do not just learn about new areas of development in the exact sciences and engineering, but also learn to apply what they have learned in practice.
