NTU «KhPI» scientists are the only representatives of Ukraine at Creep in Structures in Germany

Scientists of Kharkiv Polytechnic took part in the International Scientific Symposium «Creep in Structures VI». It was held at the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg (Germany) and brought together scientists and specialists from almost twenty countries  of the world: Sweden, Germany, Australia, Ukraine, China, France, Poland, Japan, Italy, India, the USA, etc. Professor Dmytro Breslavsky, head  of computer modelling of processes and systems department at NTU «KhPI», and associate professor Oksana Tatarinova were the only representatives of Ukraine at the symposium. Creep in Structures is organised once every ten years. It is a unique event that brings together experts in the field of research and mathematical modelling of long-term deformation and of materials’ destruction and construction elements from around the world.

Professor Dmytro Breslavsky, head of the department of computer modelling of processes and systems of the Educational and Research Institute of Computer Modelling, Applied Physics and Mathematics of NTU «KhPI», and Oksana Tatarinova, associate professor of the same department, represented Ukraine at the scientific symposium «Creep in Structures VI» held in September at the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg (Germany).

Thus, the report of Dmytro Breslavsky, professor of NTU «KhPI», was devoted to the developed at the NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» methods of computer modelling of the long-term behaviour of elements of nuclear reactor pressure vessel equipment In these methods, complex loading and heating conditions are complemented by radiation exposure. By the way, such calculation methods are necessary to ensure the safety of nuclear power plant reactors.

In her speech, Oksana Tatarinova, associate professor of NTU «KhPI» spoke about the developed methods for analysing the creep and destruction of gas turbine engine blades, which allow to identify dangerous operating conditions and ensure the required service life. She did this work together with her colleagues from the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg.

Note:

The International Scientific Symposium IUTAM Creep in Structures was held from 18 to 22 September 2023 at the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg (Germany). The event is organised by IUTAM (International Union for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics) once every ten years. In 1960, the symposium was held in Stanford (USA), in 1970 in Gothenburg (Sweden), in 1980 in Leicester (UK), in 1990 in Krakow (Poland), and in 2000 in Nagoya (Japan). The IUTAM Symposium «Advanced Materials Modelling for Structures», held in Paris in 2012, was a continuation and a new version of «Creep in Structures» with a focus on new materials and on generalised and unified inelastic deformation models
