Kharkiv Polytechnic hosted the career guidance festival, «Education for the Future. Energy fest». This scientific festival was organized by the Institute of Education and Science in Power Engineering, Electronics and Electromechanics (ESI EEE) of NTU «KhPI». The event was attended by almost thirty senior pupils of secondary schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, colleges of Kharkiv and the region and their teachers. Future applicants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the features of the Institute, the rules of admission to the university, see the research and experiments of scientists in the STEM style and take part in an interesting Kahoot quiz.
According to the organizers of the festival, its goal was to promote engineering education and specialities, whose graduates will take an active part in the further reconstruction and development of Ukraine.
«I am very glad to see you here. I hope that soon Kharkiv Polytechnic will become native to many of you! Today you will get acquainted with the institute, its departments and teachers. In the future, you will be able not only to get a fundamental education here, but also to become holders of two diplomas at once. After all, the Institute of Energy, Electronics and Electromechanics of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute cooperates with many European universities, with which Kharkiv Polytechnic has signed agreements on double diplomas. Every year, about 150 students of the Institute of EEE become participants of these programs. This gives them the prospect of successful employment at leading enterprises and companies both in Ukraine and abroad after graduation. You will not get the unique opportunities offered by the Institute of Energy, Electronics and Electromechanics in any other university in our country!» said Professor Roman Tomashevskyi, Director of the Institute of EEE, in his address to the festival participants.
Larysa Shylkova, the secretary of the admission committee of the Institute of EEE, associate professor of the Department of Electric Machines of the NTU «KhPI», told the schoolchildren about the rules of admission to Kharkiv Polytechnic in 2024.
The vocal band «Suzirya» of the Palace of Students of NTU «KhPI» greeted the participants of the scientific festival with their fiery performance. The organizers of the festival also arranged a coffee break with delicious sweets for the guests. In the STEM education zone, high school students had the opportunity to learn about the scientific developments and achievements of the Institute’s departments and take part in an exciting Kahoot quiz. It was conducted by the Head of the Department of Electrical Insulation and Cable Engineering of NTU «KhPI», Associate Professor Oleksandr Kessayev. The questions, which were mostly devoted to the history and present of the Institute of EEE, were sometimes difficult, but the students successfully coped with them.
As a result, Vladyslav Uvarov (Kharkiv Lyceum No. 163) won, Kyrylo Bragorenko (Zolochiv Lyceum No. 1, Kharkiv region) took the second place, and Dmytro Tkachenko (Kharkiv Lyceum No. 163) showed the third result. «We liked the positive atmosphere of the festival, we were in a good mood, and we talked live with our colleagues from other schools. This is very important and cool in our online age! We became interested in the institute’s specialities, and this event gave us confidence that engineering education is the future!» the boys shared their impressions. The winners of the quiz received valuable gifts, and the most active participants received sweet prizes.
Note:
The career guidance festival «Education for the Future. Energy fest» was held on Saturday, 28 October 2023 in the bomb shelter of NTU «KhPI».
Institute of Education and Science in Power Engineering, Electronics and Electromechanics of NTU «KhPI» consists of 17 departments, 15 of which are graduating departments.
The acronym STEM means Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. These areas are the basis of this educational methodology. At the same time, these disciplines are not studied separately, as usual, but in a complex. The practical application of the knowledge gained is of great importance. The child not only learns about new areas of development in the exact sciences and engineering, but also learns to apply what he or she has learned in practice.
