The National Technical University «KhPI» continues to keep its leading positions among Ukrainian higher education institutions in the international Webometrics Ranking of World’s Universities, taking the 8th place. The new list, which evaluates the activity of universities on the Internet, is published on the organizers’ website. In the general ranking of world universities, Kharkiv Polytechnic has risen by fourteen points at once compared to July 2023 and took 2610th place. In total, more than 32000 universities were assessed, including more than two hundred Ukrainian ones. The leader of the ranking became Harvard University (USA). The TOP-10 universities of Ukraine, in addition to the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», according to Webometrics, included: National Technical University of Ukraine

Note: The Webometrics Ranking of World’s Universities is one of the world’s university rankings used to analyze the degree of representation of universities’ activities on the Internet. It has been compiled since 2004 and is published twice a year (in January and July). The ranking is developed by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), which operates under the Ministry of Science and Education of Spain.
The largest weight in the ranking (90% in total) is given to the citation indicators of the higher education institutions on the Internet and in the Scopus database. It also takes into account the level of implementation of the university’s policy of open access to research results, educational materials, regulations, etc.
Since 2021, the Webometrics ranking criteria have included three indicators: Visibility – 50% – the number of external networks (subnets) linked to the institution’s web pages. The average value between the two sources Majestic and Ahrefs is used; Openness – 10% – the number of citations from the top 310 authors according to Google Scholar Citations; Excellence – 40% – data from the SCImago database (the number of articles among the top 10% of the most cited in 27 disciplines) for a five-year period is used. The Presence indicator, which assessed the size (number of pages) of the main web domain of the institution, including all subdomains, has been canceled.
The ranking does not evaluate university websites by popularity or usability – with the help of webometric indicators, all areas of higher education institution activities are analyzed: scientific, educational, cultural, social, sports, and others. National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» is one of the leading and largest technical higher education institutions in Ukraine, founded in 1885. Today, NTU «KhPI» consists of 10 educational and scientific institutes, 103 departments, where more than 15 thousand students study. Kharkiv Polytechnic is among the top 5 universities in Ukraine and is included to the international rankings: QS World University Rankings-2024, where it holds the title of the second technical university in Ukraine (4th place among Ukrainian universities, position 901-950), THE World University Rankings. In 2010, NTU «KhPI» received the status of a research national university. In 2022, the unique training program of IT specialists Innovation Campus of NTU «KhPI» was awarded the world «silver» in the field of education.
