An international team, which included Vladislav Zaplitnyi, a student of the Department of Software Engineering and Management Intelligent Technologies at NTU «KhPI,» took third place in the global final of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025. The team won the bronze award in the Cloud Track category, successfully presenting their developments among hundreds of thousands of participants from over 100 countries around the world!
This year, Vladislav Zaplitnyi, a student at NTU «KhPI» studying software engineering at the Department of Software Engineering and Management Intelligent Technologies (SEMIT) of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies, has become one of the winners of the prestigious global IT competition Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025. He joined the international team together with Maksym Gnizdovskyi (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv) and Jan Pokrywczyński (Poznań University of Technology, Poland). In May 2025, in the final held in Shenzhen (China), the team won third place in the Cloud Track category, showing brilliant results among hundreds of thousands of participants from over 100 countries around the world!
This season became historic for NTU «KhPI» — for the first time, university students passed all stages of the Huawei ICT Competition, starting with the national, then regional (European), and finally the global finals. Three NTU «KhPI» students achieved success at the national stage: Yuriy Kunets and Yegor Kopylov in the category «Computing», and Vladislav Zaplitnyi in the category «Cloud». After winning the regional stage, Vladislav joined the international team representing the European region in the global final.
Unfortunately, Ukrainian participants, including Vladislav, were unable to be physically present at the finals due to current restrictions on students traveling abroad during martial law. This became a challenge for all participants and organizers of the competition, as the final stages usually involve intensive teamwork, quick decision-making, and live communication.
Despite all the limitations, Ukrainian students demonstrated extraordinary resilience, responsibility, and adaptability. Vladislav Zaplitnyi actively collaborated with the international team online, maintaining constant communication and coordination with the Polish participant who represented the team on site. Thanks to well-coordinated remote interaction, the KPI student was able to make a significant contribution to the team’s preparation and its successful performance in the final. This experience once again confirms that circumstances cannot stop true motivation and the pursuit of knowledge. Even in wartime, Ukrainian students not only remain competitive at the international level, but also earn well-deserved recognition and awards.
NTU «KhPI» sincerely congratulates Vladislav Zaplitnyi, his team, and his mentors — Associate Professor of the Department of SEMIT, Head of the Laboratory and Educational Program Innovation Campus Volodymyr Sokol, and Head of the Department of SEMIT Andrii Kopp — for supporting the student at all stages of the competition. We wish you new achievements, inspiration, exciting projects, and confident victories in the field of IT, innovation, and international cooperation!

European teams showed the best results in the history of participation: 15 teams won, including representatives from Ukraine.
