For the 14th consecutive year, the National Technical University «KhPI» continues to be included in the list of the world’s best universities according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) 2026. This time, more than 3.000 universities from 115 countries were evaluated, among which only twenty-two Ukrainian higher education institutions made it into the ranking. Compared to previous years, Kharkiv Polytechnic continues to hold a leading position, especially in the areas of «Teaching» and «International Outlook», where it ranked sixth in Ukraine. Overall, THE WUR 2026 was led by the University of Oxford (United Kingdom).
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) is currently one of the largest and most authoritative rankings of universities in the world. This year, more than 3.000 higher education institutions from 115 countries were evaluated, of which 2,000 were included in the ranking. According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 (THE WUR 2026), the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» once again confirmed its high position among Ukrainian higher education institutions, entering the TOP-3 of the domestic list (along with 19 other higher education institutions) and defending its place among the world’s universities (1501+). A total of 67 universities from Ukraine were evaluated (12 more than last year), 22 of which made it into the ranking. Compared to previous years, Kharkiv Polytechnic continues to hold a leading position, especially in the areas of «Teaching» and «International Outlook» where it ranks sixth in the domestic list. The most significant indicators of NTU «KhPI» performance in the 2026 ranking are: scientific reputation (18%), teaching reputation (15%), and citation impact (15%), which together reflect the research and educational quality of the university.
THE WUR 2026 was published in October 2025. Oxford University (United Kingdom) topped the ranking list.

World University Rankings by the British agency Times Higher Education is currently the largest and most diverse global university ranking. Along with the Shanghai Ranking and QS, it is considered one of the most authoritative in the world. The evaluation criteria table includes 17 indicators that measure the effectiveness of a university in five major areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry. The National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» is one of the leading and largest technical higher education institutions in Ukraine, founded in 1885. Today, NTU «KhPI» consists of 10 educational and scientific institutes and 103 departments, where more than 15.000 students study.
