The international scientific conference MicroCAD-2025 has opened in NTU «KhPI»

On 14 May, Kharkiv Polytechnic University hosted the opening of the annual international scientific conference MicroCAD-2025. Although the conditions for holding the conference were extremely difficult due to the russian military aggression, the plenary session of the conference was a top-level event.  In particular, plenary presentations were made by Yury Gogotsi, Director of the Institute of Nanomaterials at Drexel University (USA); Academicians Igor Krivtsun and Serhiy Ahonin, Heads of the E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; and Yevgen Sokol, Rector of NTU «KhPI», Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The conference participants will work until May 17 in twenty-nine sections: from energy, electronics, international business, medical sciences to national security. In total, more than 3.5 thousand scientists, teachers, graduate students and students are expected to participate in the forum. This year’s conference is dedicated to the Day of Science in Ukraine and the 140th anniversary of NTU «KhPI».

The opening of the 33rd International Scientific and Practical Conference «Information Technologies: Science, Engineering, Technology, Education, Health» MicroCAD-2025 was the first official event on the occasion of the Science Day in Ukraine, which is traditionally celebrated in May by the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» with a number of events. In addition, both the plenary session and MicroCAD-2025 and all the festivities at the university this year are dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Kharkiv Polytechnic.

Plenary presentations were made by:

  • Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Igor Krivtsun, Director of the E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Sergiy Akhonin, Deputy Director of the E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, with a report: «Electron beam technologies for producing the latest titanium alloys and products for defense and medicine»;
  • Professor Yury Gogotsi, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Professor Emeritus at Drexel University, Director of the Institute of Nanomaterials at Drexel University (USA, Philadelphia), with a report: «Two-dimensional carbides and nitrides (MXenes) for advanced technologies: Experiment and Modeling»;
  • Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yevgen Sokol, Rector of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» and Professor Olena Tverytnikova, Head of the Department of Ukrainian Studies, Cultural Studies and History of Science NTU «KhPI», with a report: «Time-tested: engineering education, science and innovation. On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute»;
  • Professor Olena Sharmazanova, Head of the Department of Radiology, NTU «KhPI», with a report: «History of Radiology Development».

The conference participants will work until 17 May  in twenty-nine sections, ranging from energy, electronics, international business, medical sciences, and national security. In total, more than 3.5 thousand scientists, educators, graduate students, and undergraduates are expected to participate in the conference.

Over the previous years, more than 50 thousand presentations were made at the MicroCAD conference, and more than 350 future doctors of sciences and about three thousand PhDs and PhDs have tested their research papers. During this time, more than 150 eminent foreign guests – rectors, vice-rectors, institute directors, professors, ministers, ambassadors, directors of organizations and industrial enterprises, and others – have participated in MicroCAD. It is important to note that this year’s collection of abstracts contains a record number of abstracts on 1877 pages, only eight short of the figure of 1885 (the year of foundation of NTU «KhPI»).

The organizers of the MicroCAD -2025 conference congratulate everyone involved on the Day of Science (this year in Ukraine it is celebrated on 17 May), and sincerely thank the participants of the annual scientific meeting for preparing for this large-scale event. They wish everyone a good mood, creative inspiration, fruitful work and great success on the chosen path!
