Scientific Research Institute of the Ionosphere, which was previously part of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, has become part of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute». This research institute conducts world-class radio-physical research on near-Earth space, as confirmed by its relevant scientific publications included in the presentation attached to this message. The Scientific Research Institute of the Ionosphere (IION), founded in 1963, is a leading institution for the study of near-Earth space plasma. The institute conducts research using a non-coherent scattering radar to monitor ionospheric parameters (100–1500 km) for international space weather programs. The institute has an observatory, which has been considered a national treasure of Ukraine since 2001. The institute conducts experimental and theoretical research on the ionosphere, including electron density, plasma drift, and solar-terrestrial connections. The Institute’s scientific equipment includes a 100 m long stationary radar, a 25 m long steerable radar, an ionosonde, GNSS receivers, and a magnetometer. The Institute is actively involved in international programs such as CAWSES, LTCS, and GEM. The research conducted by the Scientific Research Institute of Ionosphere provides important information for understanding space weather, which is crucial for over-the-horizon radar observations, satellite communications, and geophysical forecasting. The involvement of the Institute’s staff in the implementation of the master’s degree program «Applied Physics and Nanomaterials for Electronics, Energy and Medicine, Radio Electronics and Telecommunications» will raise the teaching of courses such as radar measurement theory, radio-physical methods of researching near-Earth space, telecommunications systems, and radio receiving devices in radio physics to a world-class level and provide opportunities for innovative master’s theses in the most modern areas of radio physics.
