The National Technical University «KhPI» has been ranked among the TOP-10 higher education institutions in Ukraine (6th place) and among the TOP-500 universities in Europe (464th place) according to the global international UniRanks 2026 ranking. The study focuses on student interests and covers one of the broadest lists of criteria among existing rankings. Its key indicators include student well-being, graduate success, international partnerships, and the level of digital infrastructure development. The evaluation is based on the Open-Rank system, which allows experts and industry representatives to participate in determining the weight of indicators. This ensures transparency and aligns the ranking with the real needs of the modern labor market. In total, 237 Ukrainian universities and nearly 15,000 universities worldwide participated in UniRank 2026. Regional Ukrainian leaders: Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lviv, Sumy.
UniRanks is a global ranking system with roots in the United States. Unlike traditional models, which focus primarily on academic achievements or reputation, UniRanks is student-centered and aims to provide transparent and comprehensive information about the impact on the academic and career success of university applicants. To this end, the ranking takes into account 100 factors, grouped into the following main categories:
- Student well-being and the learning environment infrastructure;
- Awards received by the institution and its students, as well as recognition from ranking agencies, accreditation bodies, and industry leaders;
- Employment and career success of graduates;
- Analysis of global and national standing based on national rankings;
- International partnerships and academic mobility;
- Academic and research achievements;
- Quality of education and focus on practical skills and critical thinking for personal growth;
- Online interactivity and use of technology for future-oriented learning;
- Digitalization and technological leadership: smart learning technologies and advanced digital infrastructure.
It is important to note that this year, NTU «KhPI» once again secured a leading position, ranking among the TOP-10 domestic universities in the independent Ukrainian National H-index Ranking 2026, which assesses scientific impact. In addition, for the third year in row, NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» has maintained a strong position in the prestigious subject-specific QS World University Rankings 2026, ranking among the TOP-55 universities in Eastern Europe. Furthermore, based on the results of the state accreditation conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in 2025, NTU «KhPI» ranked first among 78 higher education institutions in the country in the engineering and technology field and received the highest «A» category.
