On March 17, 2015 the students and the administration of the National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” welcomed Dr. Jakub Forst-Battaglia, the cultural attaché of the Embassy of Austria to Ukraine, and he is also the Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Kiev.
During the meeting Dr. Jakub Forst-Battaglia delivered a lecture in English for students and the faculty. The lecture was devoted to the discussion of the civil society and persistent changes in the Central and Eastern Europe throughout the period of 1989 to 2014.
Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute had always been open and it will continue to be open to scientific, educational and cultural cooperation and our long-term cooperation with Austrian universities is the eloquent testimony to that fact. One of the most striking examples of the cooperation is our joint “ISTA” Project with Klagenfurt University on holding the scientific conference in the field of IT –technologies. Today this conference exceeded the bounds of Ukraine and Austria and it is held in many countries and it actually became the part of the world scientific society.
“Training highly-skilled specialists and sharing a gained experience at the international level, holding joint conferences, delivering lectures and participating in joint projects are our main priorities. According to centuries-old traditions and customs our university is looking forward to and always welcomes students, teachers, scientists and diplomats from different countries of the world”-accentuated Prof. Andrey Marchenko, acting rector of NTU “KhPI”.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the governing body and academics for their hearty welcome and the meeting with students arranged for me. It is rather pleasant and important to visualize that active and goal-seeking youth shows an interest in the development of scientific, educational, cultural and linguistic programs with Austria”, said Jakub Forst-Battaglia, a cultural attaché of Austria to Ukraine.
