Representatives of the Chernovetskyi Investment Group (CIG) visited NTU «KhPI». They got acquainted with the scientific developments of the university and signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with the university. In 2018-2019 academic year, the educational grant program CIG R&D Lab will be implemented at NTU “KHPI”, within the framework of which students, post-graduates, young scientists will be able to get expert and financial support from Chernovetskyi Investment Group. Participants of the program, as well as their supervisors will get the scholarship for the period of 10 months.

Such cooperation is purposed to create motivational mechanism for the university’s students, post-graduates and young scientists to develop scientific and innovative projects, get skills to commercialize and bring them to life.
Vladimir Kryvko, CIG’s Managing Partner, and Yevgeny Sokol, the University’s Rector, signed the Memorandum.
The memorandum states: Chernovetskyi Investment Group starts scholarship and mentoring support program for inventors and scientists of KhPI, which pass the selection committee. In its turn, NTU “KhPI” should provide administrative, methodological implementation of the project at the university; create a commission (including CIG representatives) for project selection; prepare necessary documentation for the payment of scholarships to participants from CIG, as well as reporting about stages of projects implementation of participants. After this, among the participants will be the final selection. The winner receives investments for the development of the project.
During the meeting, rector of NTU «KhPI” emphasized on the importance of such cooperation, that provides financial support and mentorship to students in development of their projects.
“Sadly, today our scientists are lacking something very important — to conduct experiments and create prototypes. It is important to financially assist and create other opportunities and environment for students and scientists to implement and commercialize their intellectual property projects. Today, this is the only path to develop science”, — said Yevgeny Sokol.
Vladimir Kryvko, CIG’s Managing Partner, emphasized that today it is very important for Ukrainian inventors to get experience and skills in commercializing their projects: “Our scholarship includes financing and expert assistance that will allow further projects developing and enhancing. Ambitious and driven people with the vast body of knowledge need to have access to expert opinion. We have rather extensive connections with investors and entrepreneurs around the world, and we are willing to share them.”
He also noted the importance of the participants getting developing teamwork skills. “It is preferable that a project has a team of at least 2-3 people who have different roles (for example project management, programming, hardware, sales). This will allow not only create a product but also to promote it in the market and develop teamwork skills. It is also important to make the project as functional model,” — said Vladimir Kryvko.
“For us, a joint educational program is an opportunity to contribute into environment favorable for implementing technology projects, commercializing promising ideas, forming mature IT market in Ukraine. We want to revive the science, to keep talented young people in the field, to break the outsourcing-based system so that they could convert their ideas into production and business. Our students generate thousands of interesting ideas and developments that could turn into big businesses and bring scientific and financial success to its creator, the university and to Ukrainian economy”, — Vladimir Kryvko stressed.
