The delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan, in particular the representatives of Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University and the largest electrical engineering company «Alageum Electric» paid a visit to NTU “KhPI”. The purpose of this visit — to make acquaintance with one of the best technical universities in Ukraine, meet the administration of NTU “KhPI” and discuss the avenues for cooperation. During the talks, the parties agreed on cooperation in the field of science and education.
Omirbek Umbetov, the vice-president for educational work at A. Yassawi IKTU and Baurjan Khudayibergenov, director of the technology department at the JSC «Alageum Electric» met Gennadiy Khrypunov, vice-rector for Scientific-and-Pedagogical Work (International Relations) at NTU “KhPI”, Boris Klimenko, head of the Department of Electrical Apparatus and Olexander Goncharov, chief of the Department of International Relations.
The main issues of discussion were the shortage of professional personnel at manufacturing companies in Kazakhstan and the possibility for the experts from KhPI to join those companies; training of the teachers that could lecture technical students at the Kazakhstan University using KhPI resources, etc.
“We are involved in the training of professional personnel, however our companies experience acute shortage of human resources, especially in the power engineering branch. Foreign teachers that come to our University mainly lecture the students on humanities subjects. Our task is to find experienced teachers for technology avenues” — said Omirbek Umbetov, the vice-president for educational work at A. Yassawi IKTU. He also added that they have a profound interest in the exchange of students and teachers between the Ukrainian and Kazakh Universities. They would also like to negotiate the program for dual diplomas and the diplomas for Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, including the defense of doctoral dissertations at NTU “KhPI”.
Baurjan Khudayibergenov, director of the technology department at the JSC «Alageum Electric» noted that today about 4.500 persons work for the Company, however the Company needs more employees. To resolve the problem of the shortage of professional personnel, the Company is willing to invite the specialists and teachers from Ukraine. “We manufacture different electrical equipment, in particular transformers, switches, circuit breakers, etc. We have many orders and today we need specialists knowledgeable in electric machines, electric drives, automatic machinery, electronic technologies, programming and we also need design engineers”. Baurjan Khudayibergenov also added that now Kazakh companies generate their orders for the specialists they need; therefore the industrial sector and the Universities must join their efforts to achieve their goal.
Gennadiy Khrypunov, vice-rector for Scientific-and-Pedagogical Work (International Relations) at NTU “KhPI” noted that current desires and the opportunities of education and business could not always coincide. However, Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute focuses more on business needs.
At the conclusion of the talks, the parties agreed:
- The employees of the JSC «Alageum electric» will have an opportunity to upgrade qualifications at NTU “KhPI”. The Kazakh Party will select engineers with the bachelor’s degree and delegate them to take the Master’s Degree Course at NTU “KhPI”.
- Training in technical areas of graduate students, candidates of science from Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University on the basis of NTU “KhPI”.
- The teachers and scientists from NTU “KhPI” will come to IKTU to lecture the students, they also can visits the Electrical Engineering Plant for searching topics for future joint engineering developments.
