NTU “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” was visited by a delegation from the city of Jinan (People’s Republic of China). The delegation included workers from the Chinese education system, led by Vice Mayor of Jinan Wang Guiying. The visit to KhPI was held as part of the visit of the Chinese delegation to Kharkiv in order to get acquainted with the Ukrainian educational system, the work of educational institutions, and discuss scientific and educational cooperation.
During a visit to KhPI, representatives of the Jinan city met with the administration of the university, Vice-Rector for International Relations Gennadiy Khripunov, head of the International Relations Department Oleksandr Goncharov. Vice-rector Gennadiy Khripunov greeted guests from the People’s Republic of China, spoke about the structure of the KhPI, its main scientific and educational areas, the university’s cooperation with enterprises, as well as educational opportunities for foreign students.
“We are very glad that you visited KhPI. We are ready to expand cooperation with China, to find partners among educational institutions for work in the scientific and educational field. KhPI offers about 15 specialties of various directions, where classes are held in English. Foreign students can study at the “bachelor” and “master” levels, as well as PhD-programs. In addition to training specialists, it is possible to implement joint research projects that will be of interest to KhPI and our colleagues from China” said Gennadiy Khripunov.
Representatives of the delegation of Jinan City expressed interest in cooperating with KhPI and their willingness to help expand contacts with technical universities in their region. In addition, they discussed the possibility of creating a Ukrainian-Chinese research center at KhPI, as well as organizing the exchange of students and teachers between the Kharkiv Polytechnic University and the universities of Jinan. Also, guests from China invited KhPI to the international educational forum, which will be held in 2020.
