Sportsmen of NTU «KhPI» became winners and prize-winners of the Ukrainian Championship of freestyle wrestling U20. Viktor Borogan won «gold» in the 61 kg weight category, Maxim Bugayets won silver medal in the 92 kg weight category and Mykyta Riyako won silver medal in the 97 kg weight category. As a result of the competition, Viktor won the right to represent the Ukrainian national team at the European Championships in Serbia, while Maksym and Mykyta became real contenders for the World Championships in Spain. The All-Ukrainian freestyle wrestling tournament brought together 170 the strongest sportsmen from different regions of the country under the age of 20.
The sportsmen of Kharkiv Polytechnic won one gold and two silver medals at the Championship of Ukraine of freestyle wrestling U20. Viktor Borogan, a student of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Social and Humanitarian Technologies of NTU «KhPI», became the winner of the tournament in the 61 kg weight category. Maxim Bugayets, a student of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Modeling, Applied Physics and Mathematics of NTU «KhPI», took the second step of the honorable pedestal in the 92 kg weight category and another representative of the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Technologies Mykyta Riyako in the 97 kg weight category. Yuriy Tarasov, a student of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies of NTU «KhPI», was among the top-5 of best of this Championship.
As a result of the competition, Viktor Borogan won the right to represent the Ukrainian national team at the European Championships which will take place in June 2024 in Serbia. Maksym Bugayets, who fulfilled the standard of Ukraine master of sports at the tournament, and Mykyta Riyako became real contenders for participation in the World Cup in Spain.
Thus, the success of the NTU «KhPI» team at the Ukrainian Championship in freestyle wrestling can be called historic and incredible. Among the ten weight categories, the sportsmen of Kharkiv Polytechnic competed in the finals in three of them.
We should note that the successful performance of our sportsmen was due to the professionalism and well-coordinated work of the coaching staff of the wrestling club of NTU «KhPI» «Сoliseum» and the support of the NTU «KhPI» administration.
