Scientists of NTU «KhPI» have completed work on the international project «Industrial Technology Education for Ukraine», which was implemented by the Japanese agency JICA for teachers of technical universities in Ukraine. For six months (May-November 2024), associate professors Yevheniia Basova, Maryna Ivanova, and Alona Tulska participated in online seminars by leading Japanese experts on the introduction of advanced techniques in mechatronics and robotics; the use of modern technologies in industry; integration of education and production, etc. The project provided an opportunity for Kharkiv Polytechnic scientists not only to deepen their knowledge, but also to present their own ideas for introducing new approaches to technical education in our country. It brought together representatives of leading national technical universities and was aimed at adapting the Japanese experience of innovative development of technical education to the conditions of modern Ukraine.
Associate professors of the Department «Technology of mechanical engineering and metal-cutting machines» NTU «KhPI» Yevheniia Basova and Maryna Ivanova and the Department of Oil, Gas and Solid Fuel Refining Technologies of NTU «KhPI» Alona Tulska joined the international project «Industrial Technology Education for Ukraine» in partnership with the ESD Consortium in Aichi. From May to November 2024, they took part in 16 seminars covering a variety of topics: from the use of molecular hydrogen in medicine to innovations in industrial technology. The lecturers were leading Japanese experts – Professors Hidetoshi Miyakawa, Naomi Hisanaga, Makoto Iwasaki, etc. The speakers emphasized the importance of integrating education and production, demonstrating real cases of cooperation. As a result, teachers of NTU «KhPI» had the opportunity to study the Japanese experience of implementing advanced techniques in mechatronics and robotics; application of modern technologies in industry; integration of education and production, etc. The participants not only deepened their knowledge, but also had the opportunity to present their own ideas for introducing new approaches to technical education in Ukraine. In the future, Kharkiv Polytechnic teachers will use their experience of participating in the project to implement innovations in the educational process of NTU «KhPI».
According to the project participants from the NTU «KhPI», in the conditions of martial law and post-war recovery, Ukraine needs modern approaches to training engineers that are practice-oriented. Participation in the JICA project allowed them to borrow the best international practices, improve the qualifications of teachers, and modernize curricula. Scienticts of NTU «KhPI» scientists believe that such projects are extremely important for the formation of new approaches to the training of engineers that meet the challenges of our time.
The project brought together representatives of the leading technical universities of Ukraine: National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute», Lutsk National Technical University (LNTU), and Sumy State University (SumySU). A platform was created to share experiences and introduce new approaches to teaching technical disciplines. Professor Vitalii Ivanov (Sumy State University) coordinated the participation of Ukrainian teachers in the project.
The National Technical University «KhPI» expresses its sincere gratitude to the representatives of the JICA Agency, in particular: Mr. Toru UEMACHI – Director General; Ms. Hisae IKEDA – Director of Training Program Division; Ms. Chie SUZUKI – Chief of Training Program Division; Professor Hidetoshi Miyakawa and the entire team of lecturers for their contribution to the development of technical education in Ukraine! Special thanks to Vitalii Ivanov, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Machine Tools and Instruments at Sumy State University, for his coordination, support during the project implementation and involvement in the project.
