First-year student of NTU «KhPI» presented two robotics projects in the USA

Danylo Kostenko, a first-year student of the Department of Automation and Control in Technical Systems at NTU «KhPI», recently visited the United States as part of a robotics exchange program. Together with a delegation from the Nizhyn Lyceum, Danylo presented two innovative projects: an underwater drone for water purification and a simulation video game designed to adapt Ukrainian students to the international secondary education system. In total, Ukrainian guests held more than 30 meetings with representatives of educational institutions and mayors of several cities in Florida.

The robotics projects presented in the United States were developed by Danylo Kostenko, a student of the Department of Automation and Control in Technical Systems at the Scientific Institute of Computer Modeling, Applied Physics and Mathematics of NTU «KhPI», during his final year at the Nizhyn Lyceum of the Nizhyn Council, where he studied before entering NTU «KhPI». Both projects were implemented in collaboration with other graduates – participants of the experimental lyceum STEM laboratory.

The first of them is an underwater drone designed for hydrological surveys of the Oster River and detection of possible disruptions in the ecosystem. In addition, it can be used on any problematic water bodies not only in Ukraine but also abroad.

The second project is an educational video game simulator that helps to improve the learning process and make it modern, understandable, and exciting for children. It was developed for Ukrainian schoolchildren and can serve as an effective tool for introducing new approaches to education. The projects have aroused interest among the international community.

During his visit to the United States as a member of the Ukrainian delegation, Kharkiv Polytechnic student Danylo Kostenko visited three Florida universities: University of Florida, University of South Florida, Florida State University, as well as two schools – Eastside High School and P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School. The American students and teachers gave the guests a tour of their laboratories and introduced them to their current projects. The meetings were accompanied by lively discussions, exchange of experience, and active, relaxed communication, during which the parties discussed the application of advanced technologies, engineering, robotics, and ecology in education.

«This trip was an amazing experience that had a great impact on me, it gave me a lot of ideas that I want to implement!» said Danylo Kostenko, a student of NTU «KhPI».

Danylo’s school passion for electronics and robotics led him to Kharkiv Polytechnic to study at the specialty 74 «Automation, computer-integrated technologies and robotics». This is an opportunity to improve his knowledge and bring it to a higher level.

Note:

The delegation, together with student of NTU «KhPI» Danylo Kostenko, included representatives of the Nizhyn Lyceum: Veronika Rashko, a graduate and another participant of the STEM Lab, Volodymyr Havrysh, a student, Pavlo Kindeev, the head of the STEM Lab and a computer science teacher, Svitlana Alekseenko, the lyceum director, and Nadiya Kresan, the coordinator of the Ukrainian group. On the American side, the meeting was organized by Dr. Pavlo Antonenko.
