Ukraine is currently at war, but sportsmen from Kharkiv Polytechnic remain members of the International and All-Ukrainian sports movement, continuing to train and participate in competitions! With their hard work and every victory, they prove to the global sports community that Ukraine is the strongest and undefeated!

Note:

The Sports Complex «Polytech» (No. 1) was built between 1985 and 1991 (total area 8,602 square meters). It is the only sports facility in Ukraine that has been awarded the State Prize in Architecture and has the status of «Olympic Training Base for Ukrainian National Teams.» The Ukrainian national teams in basketball, badminton, athletics, and other sports trained here, students majoring in «Physical Culture and Sports» attended classes, world and European champions and Olympic medalists trained here, and numerous mass sports and physical culture and health events took place here: Spartakiads, international competitions and contests, as well as open days. This unique building in the center of Kharkiv brought together all those who loved movement, sports, and development. On the night of 24 June, 2022, Polytech was destroyed by russian rocket fire. The main blow fell on the athletics arena and the game hall. The swimming pool and all the premises of the sports complex were damaged by the blast wave: windows, doors, walls. Despite the significant destruction and lack of funds, Polytech students, graduates, their friends, and athletes joined forces: they cleared the rubble, removed glass and debris, and stacked bricks. After some time, restoration and repair work began. On 1 June, 2023, NTU «KhPI» opened a renovated swimming pool in the sports complex and part of the building that was not so badly damaged by rocket strikes—a major renovation of the physical education department building was carried out, which was separated by a wall from the damaged athletics arena and game room.

The Freestyle Wrestling Club «Coliseum» at NTU «KhPI» was established in 2011 at NTU «KhPI.» It was founded with the aim of promoting and developing freestyle wrestling at the university and in the region. Today, the club is not only seven wrestling halls in Kharkiv, where both students and schoolchildren train. Colosseum is also its famous alumni who have become champions of Ukraine and Europe: Kamil Kerimov, Dmytro Vasyliev, Mykyta Ryako, Timur Vyhovskyi, and others. «Coliseum» also has experienced coaches, including teachers from the Department of Physical Education at NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» and graduates of Kharkiv Polytechnic. Most importantly, «Coliseum» is a team of like-minded people who train not only future champions but also true patriots of Ukraine.
