Kharkiv Polytechnics – participants of the global world hackathon

Three teams of NTU «KhPI» take part in the 18th global hackathon IEEExtreme 18.0, which takes place on October 26. These are two teams of students from the Department of Multimedia and Internet Technologies and Systems and one from the Department of Computer Mathematics and Data Analysis of Kharkiv Polytechnic. In total, ten teams represent Ukraine at the competition. The event brought together almost twenty thousand participants, more than two thousand observers (proctors), and more than eight hundred student organizations from seventy-five countries.

The aim of the competition is to teach and expand students’ professional competencies in programming in a playful way, as well as to increase their interest in complex interdisciplinary tasks.

Three teams from NTU «KhPI»: «CodeRoots», «CyberCossacs» and «CloudBoba» are participating in the 18th global hackathon IEEExtreme 18.0. Students of the Department of Multimedia and Internet Technologies and Systems (MITS) and the Department of Computer Mathematics and Data Analysis (CMDA) of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology of NTU «KhPI» are competing for prizes.

On the eve of the IEEExtreme 18.0 hackathon, Kharkiv Polytechnic teams met with Andriy Marchenko, Vice-Rector for Research at NTU «KhPI», who wished the students success in the competitions.

The team «CodeRoots» consisted of department MITS students Yevgeniy Glebov, Andriy Skiba, and Dmitry Teploukhov. We would like to note that the observer (proctor) of the teams is Hanna Zavolodko, a member of the world’s largest professional technical organization for the promotion of technology, IEEE. The teams were sponsored by IT company «Kitrum». In particular, it created comfortable conditions for the teams to participate in the competition, reimbursed the entry fees of the NTU «KhPI» teams for participation in the IEEE tournament, and prepared delicious gifts and souvenirs for the players.

We would like to note that the IEEExtreme hackathon is an annual online event held since 2006 to train and expand professional skills in programming, as well as to interest students in solving interdisciplinary problems. In 2024, the tournament brought together nearly twenty thousand participants, more than two thousand proctors, more than eight hundred student chapters, and one hundred and fifty-four IEEE sections from seventy-five countries. Ukraine is represented by ten teams.

We congratulate the students of Kharkiv Polytechnic on their decently debut in the international arena. We wish them success and victories!
