The National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» hosted an international delegation as part of humanitarian support to improve the energy sustainability of the higher education institution during the war. The visit took place thanks to the cooperation with the Swedish Aid Center and the Swedish organizations Power Up Ukraine and Filippus Ukrainahjälpen Foundation. An agreement was reached on the transfer of two high-capacity generators that will help the university provide uninterrupted operation during power blackouts.
The delegation included Serhiy Porokhnavets, Chairman of the Board of the Swedish Aid Center, and Nazar Romaniuk, a representative of the Coordination Center of the Volyn Regional Military Administration. During the visit, they familiarized with the situation at the university and its needs in the context of the prolonged lack of stable energy supply caused by attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and constant shelling of Kharkiv.
An important topic of negotiations was the provision of two powerful generators for Kharkiv Polytechnic to support the operation of critical infrastructure facilities. Professor Roman Tomashevskyi, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Energy, Electronics and Electromechanics of NTU «KhPI», and Kseniia Minakova, Professor of the physics department of NTU «KhPI», negotiated and corresponded on this issue. An agreement was reached on the transfer of two high-capacity generators that will help the university provide uninterrupted operation during power blackouts. The equipment will provide power to the shelters of NTU «KhPI», allow to continue the educational process during air alarms, as well as to maintain the operation of servers and other critical facilities.
Rector of NTU «KhPI» Yevgen Sokol and the university staff thank the representatives of the Swedish Aid Center, charitable organizations «Power Up Ukraine» and «Filippus Ukrainahjälpen Foundation» for their assistance in implementing measures to provide uninterrupted operation in critical situations and look forward to further cooperation.
We would like to remind you that this is not the first charity event aimed at supporting the energy independence of Kharkiv Polytechnic. In 2022, NTU «KhPI» received an electric generator from volunteer organizations in Ukraine.
Note:
The Swedish charitable organizations «Ukrainahjälpen Filippus» and «Power Up Ukraine» have been supporting Ukrainians since the beginning of the full-scale war. Their representatives are constantly providing humanitarian aid to all regions of our country. Within the framework of this assistance, the benefactors supply generators, medical equipment, medicines, food, etc.
