A new global edition of QS World University Rankings was published on June 6, 2018 in which National Technical University “Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute” occupied the position 701-750. For several years running, KhPI has steadily been holding its top index over the entire history of the existence of this ranking.
In addition to KhPI, five more Ukrainian Universities were put on the list of the best institutions of higher education, in particular V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, T.G. Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National Technical University of Ukraine “I.I. Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and also Lviv Polytechnic National University and Sumy State University.
According to QS World University Rankings, the best University of the world has been Massachusetts Institute of Technology for several years running.

QS World University Rankings is the most popular ranking edition of the universities in the world, developed by the British Consulting Company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) for convenience of students.
The QS World University Rankings® 2019 covers 85 countries and this year includes 60 new entries. Six (6) ranking criteria were taken into consideration, in particular the academic reputation score (40%), the faculty/student ratio (20%), the employer reputation metric (10%), the citations per faculty metric (20%), international faculty ratio and international student ratio (5% each). The criteria were ranked based on the analysis of an ample amount of data. The team at QS have analysed over 97 million citations from more than 14 million papers, 126,000 survey responses from employers and academics and considered more than 4,000 universities before ranking 1000 of them.
