Rector of NTU “KhPI” Yevgen Sokol visited Azerbaijan to negotiate with the administration of several universities to determine new stages of cooperation. These are Baku State University (BSU), Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). Following the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding in the scientific and educational sphere with AzTU was signed.
The purpose of the memorandum is the development of academic, scientific and educational cooperation between NTU “KhPI” and the Azerbaijan Technical University. It involves the exchange of students, teachers, graduate students, other university employees, cooperation in research, the exchange of academic materials, publications, library resources and other information, cooperation in the creation of joint bachelor and master programs, etc.
“The issues of exchanging students and teachers, technologies, and joint research were discussed. Of course, a lot of our specialties coincide. Azerbaijan Technical University was interested in preparing PhD students at KhPI. The personnel reserve is always an important work, and knowing our serious potential in this area, they paid attention to it. We send them the base of our academic advisers, topics for PhD, which they will consider in order to recommend the citizens of Azerbaijan for training. In addition, we offer their students to participate in our master’s programs” said the rector of KhPI Yevgen Sokol.
The rector also noted that KhPI has prepared a package of proposals that will be sent to three Azerbaijani universities (Baku State University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University) to determine the main directions. After this, specific protocols can be signed that determine the time frame, number of directions, as well as the possibility of implementing joint projects.
“The Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) and the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) are very interested in cooperation with our university. They are well aware of the high ratings of KhPI, they have an understanding of who they are working with and for what purpose. If we talk about ASOIU, we are interested in two areas – oil and gas production, gas and solid fuel processing. These are specialties that coincide in our universities, and cooperation is of interest. They are also interested in the possibility of cooperation in the field of information technology” said Yevgen Sokol.
Recall that in the spring of 2018, the rector of NTU “KhPI” visited Azerbaijan to start cooperation with universities of this country.
