NTU «KhPI» became the Ukrainian leader in World University Rankings by Subject

For the first time, Kharkiv Polytechnic has been included in the ranked higher education institutions of the most influential world university ranking QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 in Petroleum Engineering and won the first place in Ukraine in this discipline. This is the third subject for which NTU «KhPI» has been included in this list, having won the Ukrainian «silver» in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics and Production Engineering and entered the TOP-6 domestic higher education institutions in Computer Science and Information Systems. In total, QS Rankings by Subject 2024 includes almost 1600 universities from 104 countries.

According to the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» was ranked first among Ukrainian universities in the subject «Petroleum Engineering» and 101-150 in the world.  This is the first time NTU «KhPI» has been ranked in this discipline, so it indicates the active development of this subject area at the university.

We would like to remind you that in the current version of the ranking in the subject «Engineering – Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing», NTU «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» ranks second among Ukrainian higher education institutions (451-500th place among world universities). In addition, in the subject of Computer Science & Information Systems, Kharkiv Polytechnic is also among the top six ranked universities in Ukraine (701-720 place among the world’s higher education institutions).

Thus, in accordance with the number of subjects in which NTU «KhPI» is ranked in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, Kharkiv Polytechnic ranks third in Ukraine, behind only Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute» (Kyiv)

QS Ranking is produced by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds. It uses a special assessment methodology and ranks the world’s best universities in 51 different subjects and five subject areas: arts and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences, social sciences, and management. In general, the QS Ranking lists usually include up to 5% of all global higher education institutions.

In 2024, QS Quacquarelli Symonds ranked more than 16.300 study programs in various subjects. Experts analyzed 1559 institutions, including 64 for the first time. Universities are ranked by several indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, and the International Research Network (IRN) index, which allows for a comprehensive assessment of the activities of educational institutions.
