NTU «KhPI» expands geography and attracts more Chinese students to study

Representatives of the Directorate of the Institute of International Education of NTU «KhPI» held an online meeting with representatives of 17 agencies that attract Chinese students to Kharkiv Polytechnic. The partners discussed areas for further cooperation and summarized the results of this year’s enrollment of Chinese students. Gennadiy Khrypunov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, noted that 260 Chinese citizens expressed a desire to study at the university’s master’s program and almost all of them successfully passed the entrance exams. The most popular specialties among Chinese students are «Management», «Pedagogical and Educational Sciences», and «Computer Engineering».

Gennadiy Khrypunov, Vice-Rector for International Relations of NTU «KhPI», Dmytro Gorovyi, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Education of NTU «KhPI», and his deputy Hanna Drozdova held an online meeting with representatives of Chinese partner companies. They discussed ways to attract Chinese citizens who want to get a quality education abroad and reported on what has already been done in this direction.

According to Gennadiy Khrypunov, Vice-Rector of NTU «KhPI», the career guidance work conducted by Chinese agent companies had a positive result. In the spring and fall of 2024, almost 260 Chinese citizens entered Kharkiv Polytechnic.  He also informed the partners about the fruitful cooperation of the university with the National Scholarship Exchange Agency of China concerning the recognition of diplomas issued to Chinese students. Currently, 946 Chinese citizens who are studying at or have graduated from Kharkiv Polytechnic are preparing for the procedure of recognition of their educational documents.

The graduating departments and the Directorate of the Educational and Scintific Institute of International Education of NTU «KhPI» have already prepared 25 sets of documentation in English, which regulates the training of masters in specific educational programs and guidelines for diploma theses. As explained by Dmytro Gorovyi, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of International Education of NTU «KhPI», this was also done at the request of the National Scholarship Exchange Agency of China.

Another important aspect of education discussed at the online meeting concerned possible changes to the rules for admission of foreign students, which the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine plans to implement in the 2024-2025 academic year. Hanna Drozdova told more about the procedure for conducting online entrance exams.

At the end of the meeting, representatives of NTU «KhPI» answered numerous questions from partners from the People’s Republic of China.

Currently, 17 agent firms from China cooperate with NTU «KhPI» to organize online learning for foreign students.
