Mykhailo Bondarenko, Head of the Student Alliance of NTU «KhPI», took part in a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The solemn event «Strong students – strong country!» was dedicated to the International Students’ Day. The event brought together representatives of student self-government bodies from more than two hundred higher education institutions of Ukraine. The meeting was organized by the Expert Council of Students of Ukraine’s higher education institutions.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the students on the holiday and wished them success and peace. The Head of State emphasized that young people are the future of our country. He thanked the students who are now heroically defending the freedom and independence of the country at the front. «The unity of all young people, no matter where a student is today, is very important for us. It is an integral part of the strength of our country. Being a student during the war is a difficult time, but it is very important for you and for the whole country,» the President noted.
During the meeting, they discussed important issues of involving young people in government institutions, including ministries; the mandatory creation of military departments in Ukrainian higher education institutions after the war, etc.
«It was nice to realize that despite russia’s war against Ukraine, the President of our country pays great attention to students and the problems of modern youth,» said Mykhailo Bondarenko, head of the Student Alliance of NTU «KhPI», a student of the Department of еlectric power transmission of NTU «KhPI».
At the meeting, Ilya Belyak, chairman of the Expert Council of Students of Higher Education Institutions, presented innovative projects and legislative initiatives that should increase the role of the Ukrainian student movement. In particular, the team of the Expert Council proposes to create a National Council of Students of Higher Education Institutions and introduce the position of a government commissioner for the rights of higher education students. The participants of the event got acquainted with the UA – Ukrainians Abroad project, which provides for the creation of a network of youth councils around the world, as well as a draft law to expand the rights of student self-government.

The Student Alliance of NTU «KhPI» is a student self-government body that unites students of the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute». It was established at the founding conference on 18 May, 2005. During this time, the members of StudAlliance have implemented many student projects at Kharkiv Polytechnic and in the country. The main activities of the Student Alliance are the protection of students’ rights and interests and the organization of their cultural leisure. Members of the student self-government body of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute have won various competitions and festivals, and have been awarded diplomas and prizes.
