Kharkiv Polytechnic signed a Memorandum with one of the largest employers in Ukraine

NTU «KhPI» has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Joint Stock Company (JSC) «Ukrtransgaz». The document provides multidirectional cooperation between the university and the company in the fields of science and technology: organization of internships for students and training for faculty, joint lectures, conferences, master classes, and employment of graduates. We would like to note that company «Ukrtransgaz», which operates Ukraine’s underground gas storage facilities and modernizes and constructs main gas pipelines, employs more than 5,000 people.

National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» represented by Rector Professor Yevgen Sokol and Joint Stock Company (JSC) «Ukrtransgaz», represented by General Director Roman Malyutin, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in Science and Technology. The purpose of the agreement is to cooperate in the training and retraining of engineering and technical specialists, educational and methodological, educational and practical, cultural and research activities, and mutual provision of technical and information assistance in solving specific problems within their own capabilities.

In particular, the Memorandum provides for the organization of internships, study tours for students, and master classes with the involvement of the company’s specialists, employment, and internships for the faculty in the structural and production staff of JSC «Ukrtransgaz». In addition, the joint objectives of the agreement include the development, implementation and use of joint research programs on the latest technologies for the operation and repair of main process equipment, power plants and their systems, organization of joint seminars, conferences, exhibitions, involvement of university faculty and company specialists in lectures, seminars, other types of classes and conferences.

«Ukrtransgaz» is a company that employs almost 5 thousand people. We plan to involve university students in production and training practices so that they can work side by side with professionals and receive their first practical experience,» said Roman Malyutin, General Director of «Ukrtransgaz».

According to the Memorandum, it is expected the invitation of graduates of NTU «KhPI» to work in the company in the following key specialties:

  • Software engineering;
  • Computer science;
  • Computer engineering;
  • System analysis;
  • Automation and computer-integrated technologies;
  • Metrology and information and measuring equipment;
  • Oil and gas engineering and technology.

Note:

JSC «Ukrtransgaz» operates Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities and modernizes and constructs main gas pipelines and facilities on them. JSC «Ukrtransgaz» is a part of Naftogaz Group. The company owns 12 underground gas storage facilities located throughout Ukraine. Their total capacity is 31 billion cubic meters, which is comparable to the volumes of the underground gas storage facilities (UGS) facilities of Italy, France, Hungary and Austria combined. Such capacities provide Ukraine with significant opportunities to attract gas storage customers, including European ones. JSC «Ukrtransgaz» also includes branches that provide comprehensive maintenance, construction and major services for gas transportation facilities. In particular: BMF «Ukrgazprombud», IRME «Ukrgazenergoservice», R&D Center TD «Techdiagaz», Department «Ukrgaztekhzvjazok», Research Institute of Gas Transportation, Directorate for Construction and Reconstruction of the GTS. At the same time, these structural units are part of the Technical Support Division of Naftogaz Group.  Until 1 January, 2020, JSC «Ukrtransgaz» also operated the Ukrainian gas transportation system. However, after the unbundling was completed, this function is performed by the independent GTS Operator of Ukraine.
