The National Technical University «KhPI» has once again confirmed its status as one of the best Ukrainian higher education institutions, ranking fourth in one of the most prestigious global university rankings, QS World University Ranking (QS WUR) 2026. In total, nearly 8,500 higher education institutions from 106 countries were evaluated. Only 10 universities from Ukraine were included in the list. Compared to previous years, Kharkiv Polytechnic has improved its position in all indicators, including academic reputation, citations, employer reputation, etc.
According to the World University Ranking 2026 (QS WUR 2026), the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» confirmed its high position among higher education institutions in Ukraine (4th place in the national list) and defended its place among universities worldwide (1001-1200th place). Despite the fact that the number of higher education institutions analyzed by the ranking has increased by 54% compared to last year, NTU «KhPI» has again managed to enter the TOP 66% of universities in the world ranked in the ranking. In total, QS WUR 2026 reviewed the performance of 8,467 universities from 106 countries, and 1,501 higher education institutions were included in the list. Experts note that this year, NTU «KhPI» improved its position in all criteria used to evaluate universities in the ranking. Among them:
- The university’s final score is 15.1 (54% higher than last year);
- International research network (improvement by 3 places among higher education institutions in Ukraine);
- Citations from the Scopus database (improvement by 2 places among Ukrainian universities);
- Sustainable development (improvement by 2 places among higher education institutions in Ukraine);
- Employer reputation: indicator value (almost double improvement – 96% compared to last year);
- Academic reputation (17% improvement compared to last year).
With the two best indicators, NTU «KhPI» took 2nd and 3rd place in Ukraine (294th and 555th place in the world, respectively).
In addition to the National Technical University «KhPI», the TOP – 5 Ukrainian universities in the QS World University Rankings 2025 include: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, National Technical University of Ukraine «Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute», and Lviv Polytechnic National University. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) topped the ranking. The QS World University Ranking 2026 was published on 19 June, 2025.

QS World University Rankings is a list of the world’s best universities, compiled on the basis of a global study of higher education institutions of international significance in terms of their achievements in education and science. It is calculated using the methodology of the British consulting company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and is considered one of the most authoritative global university rankings. National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute» is one of Ukraine’s leading and largest technical higher education institutions, founded in 1885.
