Scientist of NTU «KhPI» for the first time represented Ukraine at the world summit in Singapore

Kseniia Minakova, associate professor of the department of physics at NTU «KhPI», took part in the GYSS 2024 Global Young Scientists Summit in Singapore, where she became the only representative of Ukraine in all its history. The event brought together more than three hundred and fifty young researchers and leading scientists from 38 countries. Among the honourable guests of the summit were laureates of the Nobel Prize, the Fields Prize, and the Millennium Technology Prize.  Within the framework of the forum, the scientist from NTU «KhPI» held a lecture session where she presented the results of her research on nanostructures. Kseniia Minakova’s report was highly appreciated by her colleagues from the Institute of Functional Intelligent Materials at the National University of Singapore.

Kseniia Minakova, associate professor of department of physics at the Educational and Scientific Institute of computer modeling, applied physics and mathematics of NTU «KhPI», took part in the global summit of young scientists «Development of science, creation of technologies for a better world» – GYSS 2024 (Singapore). She was the only representative of Ukraine at this most prestigious forum in its history. Within the framework of the forum, Kseniia Minakova, associate professor of NTU «KhPI», presented the results of her research on nanostructures and gave a lecture to colleagues from the Institute of Functional Intelligent Materials of the National University of Singapore.

Kseniia Minakova got the opportunity to share the results of her research with young and leading scientists of the world thanks to a personal grant from the National Research Foundation of Singapore (NRF). The trip of the NTU «KhPI» scientist to the summit was also supported by the Institute of Functional Intelligent Materials of the National University of Singapore.

As Kseniia Minakova noted, the summit has become an excellent platform for discussing the most important issues in the development of world science during lectures, plenary sessions, and panel discussions. Communication with speakers at informal sessions in small groups was also very useful.  The scientist of NTU «KhPI» is grateful to the National Research Foundation of Singapore (NRF) and the Institute of Functional Intelligent Materials of the National University of Singapore for the unique opportunity to participate in the world’s global summit of young scientists.

Note:

The GYSS Global Young Scientists Summit was launched in 2013. Its goal is to engage young scientists in realizing their scientific dreams through close interaction with prominent scientists and researchers and colleagues. The summit provides a platform for conversations about science and research, technological innovation and society, and solutions of global challenges. It covers disciplines such as chemistry, physics, medicine, mathematics, computer science, and engineering.

The GYSS 2024 Summit took place on 8-12 January in Singapore. It was attended by more than 350 young researchers and leading scientists from 38 countries. Sixteen Nobel Laureates, Fields Prize winners, and Millennium Technology Prize winners were among the honored guests of the event. The summit participants discussed trends in science and technology, future rule changes, and issues related to solving major global challenges with the help of scientific research.

Kseniia Minakova, associate professor of the department of physics at NTU «KhPI»,  PhD in Physics and Mathematics, is a world-famous science popularizer, ambassador of the Optica Foundation (USA), and member of the Hand-on Science Network. Her research focuses on theoretical calculations and modeling of thermophysical processes in solar cells. She is also actively working on attracting, training and developing women and youth in STEM education.
